About Me!
Welcome! My name is Beth Rodriguez and I am so excited for another wonderful school year! This is my 19th year teaching, and my 6th here at Sunset Ridge. I was born and raised in Illinois, and have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Ed. and English from Augustana College, as well as a Masters Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from The University of Illinois ~ Go Illini!
I am proud that teaching runs in my family! My Dad was a high school asst. principal in the 1960's before moving on to university-level administration. My Mom taught elementary P.E. her entire career. My husband, Eddie, is a guidance counselor at Barry Goldwater High School, where he also coaches golf and soccer. I hope to bring my family's passion for education to your family, too.
Eddie & I have been married for 15 years, and we have a son, Eric, who is in 5th grade. We attend many Sunset Ridge functions, so you will get to know them well. We also enjoy riding bikes, hiking, swimming, playing board games, and cheering on the Cardinals, Suns, and Diamondbacks.
When I was in 4th grade, my teacher was Mrs. Abbey. She was one of my very favorite teachers. My favorite memory of her was how she read to us every day after recess. My favorite part of the day is reading to the class, too!
I look forward to getting to know my students and parents throughout the year!
